A charming small Austrian Vertico dating to around 1800, retaining its original painted decoration.
The front is richly decorated with a central painted depiction of a shepherd, surrounded by ornamental floral motifs and an elaborate scrolling cartouche. The striking blue ground contrasts beautifully with the warm natural tones and geometric wood decoration of the surrounding frame.
The original hand-painted surface, decorative composition, and small proportions and its unrestored condition give this piece a particularly appealing rustic character.
